Nikola Tower

‘Nikola Tower’ is a 15 store residential and service building, located on Nikolla Tupe street, in Tirana. The buildings service units are located on the first 3 floors, while the rest of the buildings function is housing. The housing units consist on a combination between standard apartments (of 3+1, 2+1, and 1+1 typologies) with more spacious apartments and a duplex on the last two floors. What makes this project special is its materiality. The exterior of the building will be constructed with the “rammed earth” technique consisting on a framework filled with different layers of damp earth, which typically includes a mixture of selected aggregates. After the first layer is added, it is compressed into around half its original volume. This process is repeated until the frame is filled and after its removal it forms a compact structure of different earth tones texture.
The volume is compact and characterized by clean geometric shapes. Alongside the first 3 floors the volume inclines inward creating an upside down trapezoidal shaped volume. By this concept, it not only becomes possible to highlight exteriorly the change of functions on the interior but also the space created on the ground floor due to the inclination makes the building more inviting.

‘Nikola Tower’ është një objekt banimi dhe shërbimi 15 kate mbi tokë dhe 2 nëntokë, me vendndodhje në rrugën Nikolla Tupe, Tiranë. Njësitë e shërbimit janë të vendosura në 3 katet e para ndërsa pjesa tjeter është në funksion të banimit, i cili nderthuret midis apartamenteve tip (te tipologjive 3+1, 2+1, dhe 1+1) me apartamente me te bollshme dhe nje dupleks ne dy katet e fundit. Ajo që e bën të veçantë këtë projekt është materialiteti. Eksterieri i objektit do të realizohet me teknikën “rammed earth” e cila nënkupton ndërtimin me anë të përzierjes së agregateve të zgjedhura të cilat pasi derdhen dhe ngjeshen në vënd sipas formës së diktuar, formojnë një strukturë të qëndrueshme e cila pas tharjes shfaqet me nuanca të ndryshme. Kjo është një teknikë e vjetër në thelb por sot vjen e përshtatur me metodat e avancuara të ndërtimit.
Për sa i përket volumetrisë, volumi është kompakt dhe karakterizohet nga forma të pastra gjeometrike. Reduktimi i gjurmës në mënyrë graduale në 3 katet e para rezulton në inklinimin e objektit përgjatë njësive të sherbimit. Në këtë mënyrë bëhet i mundur evidentimi në fasadë i ndryshimit të funksioneve në interier, gjithashtu hapësira e krijuar në katin përdhe për shkak të tërheqjes e bën objektin me ftues.
